Garden Spaces
There are a variety of elements that make up the 'Garden Spaces,' including the Garden Beds, the Butterfly Garden, the Tiny Orchard, the Flowers, Roses & Succulents, and the Composting Area.

Scroll down to learn more about each of them.

The Garden Beds
Concerning the garden beds, we have two options for you: Community Garden Beds and Individual Garden Beds. With the Community Garden Beds, we invite anyone who desires to help tend and cultivate the vegetables being grown in these beds. We'll work these together as a community and then donate the harvest to the West Valley Food Pantry. This is a great, local organization that feeds more than 700 families per week.

There are also Individual Garden Beds. With this option, an 'adopter' takes sole responsibility for a specific garden bed, tending it and then keeping all of the produce from this bed for themselves. With this option, we only ask the adopter to donate fifteen dollars ($15.00) per month to cover the cost of the water, and to agree to keep their gardening practices organic. The beds are on a timed drip system, which both conserves water and allows the adopter more freedom to come to the garden as they are able.
The Butterfly Garden
We're not only dreaming of a space that is friendly to people and vegetables, but also to birds, bees, and butterflies. With this in mind, we planted a small butterfly garden that is filled with host plants; milkweed for Monarch butterflies and Passion vines for, among others, Gulf fritillary butterflies. Future plans for ONCG include more host and nectar plants catering to a more diverse population of butterflies and other pollinators. ONCG is registered with Monarch Watch, an organization dedicated to the preservation of the Monarch butterfly.

A Tiny Orchard
We recently planted a peach tree, an apricot tree, and an avocado tree that were donated by generous neighbors. Plans are to add a couple of other types of fruit trees in the future to round out our 'Tiny Orchard.'

Flowers, Roses, and Succulents
We have a variety of flowers, roses, and succulents scattered about in boxes, pots, and in the ground.

Composting Area
We currently have a small area to compost, with plans to expand it in the future. Perhaps one day, even having the capacity to accept kitchen and yard waste from the neighborhood.
